Horned plantain are medium to large in size, averaging 30-35 centimetres in length, and are elongated and angular in shape with slightly pointed ends. Horned Plantain have a firm and starchy consistency with a very mild, neutral flavour.

Horned Plantain are best suited for cooked applications such as boiling, baking, steaming, grilling, or frying and can be used when unripe or ripe.
