Mamey Sapote - Pantin / Key West

The Pantin also known as Key west Mamey sapote’s flavor is a combination of sweet potato and pumpkin with undertones of almond, chocolate, honey, and vanilla. The ovoid, medium-large fruit has a large center pit, similar to an avocado. The Mamey Sapote has a coarse brown skin with a brilliant red/pink coloured, sweet and creamy flesh. The flesh of the Mamey sapote has an exotic flavour similar to sweet pumpkin pie with spice. The unripe fruits of the Mamey can be cooked as a vegetable.
