Mountain Papaya - Papayuelo

The Mountain Papaya also known as Papayuelo is a beautiful tall branching plant with red - purple leaves. The Mountain Papaya can begin to bear fruit within 12 months. The 15-20 cm long fruits range in colour from yellow to purple. The flesh of the Papayuelo is similar to Babaco however this fruit has seeds. The Plants are either male or female 2 seedlings are in each pot however we recommend purchasing 2 to increase your odds of having male and female plants. Mountain Papaya has greater resistance to poorly drained soils than other Papaya and Babaco. It also seems to be less susceptible to attack from fruit spotting bug.
