Wood Apple - Grafted
Wood Apple - Grafted
The Wood Apple Limonia Acidissima is a medium to large tree with large thorns, producing a rock hard berry like fruit that contains an inner sticky brown pulp. The outer skin of the Wood apple fruit is so hard that it is cracked with a hammer, the brown pulp is edible and used in many ways to make syrups, drinks, jelly, and jams or eaten fresh. Other parts of the plant are noted as useful such as the roots and leaves which are used for medicinal purposes. In Thailand the leaves are eaten in salads while in India the pulp is used in savoury dishes and to make chutneys.
