The Young berry is similar to boysenberry but with slightly smaller, sweeter and glossy berries. The Youngberry was developed in 1905, it is a cross between a blackberry, raspberry and dewberry and has been grown commercially since 1926. Expect a harvest a few weeks before boysenberry. The fruit of the youngberry is soft and great eaten fresh, if it makes it to the kitchen it is suitable for sauces and syrups.
